Week 8, Thing 20, Subject: Ning

Ning is a very cool website. The Ning group I joined was a Response to Intervention group. There were links to useful US Department of Education web sites and a podcast section. Very interesting. It appears that it might be difficult to stay in touch with all of these websites, but it is good to know where to go to get the information. Not sure what a good score on the game was but I got an 86. The timer was a bit unnerving.

Week 8, Thing 19, Subject: Google Earth

I hve been playing with Google Earth for the past year. I starte when I found out I would be moving to Colorado. I was looking for a house and everytime my realtor would send me an address I would check it out on Google Earth. It is fun, but not always up-to-date.

Week 8, Thing 18, Subject: SlideShare

SlideShare was a bit easier to manage considering we have navigated all the other share sites. I was able to find a SlideShare on the RtI process. The particular SlideShare I chose was interesting because it provides information on the RtI process for social and emotional issues. Most of the time RtI information is provided for academic purposes. SlideShare.

Week 7, Thing 17, Subject: Podcast

I was able to find a podcast on an area of interest for me; RtI. The podcast is how quickreads can benefit students in the RtI process. RtI Podcast. I am still trying to solve the RSS mystery, the mystery of where the RSS feed goes to on my computer when I download it. :)

Week 7, Thing 16, Subject: YouTube

Well, I visited YouTube for more than a minute today. That is to say longer than when one of my teenage sons calls me over to see some crazy thing another teen has posted on YouTube. I was able to see that there are some interesting videos posted, but also some things I would rather not see or hear. Like traditional t.v., you can always turn it off. And there does seem to be a reporting system for those abusing the site. The site I chose was for crafting because that is where one of my interest is. The video I chose. This website could use some cataloging. It would be intersting to WORDLE this site, wouldn't it.

Week 6, Thing 14, Subject: Voice Threading

Voice threading was interesting. The most I had done with recording a voice was in designing a Storybook production for a retiring teacher. I was able to comment on a voicethread where a teacher had copied a photo of a painting in a museum, she used it teach her students about creating depth of objects in art. I was able to comment on her thread: https://voicethread.com/#q+education.b3352.i28616. This too looks like a great web site to spend some time on when there is more time.

Week 5, Thing 13, Subject: Google Docs

Well what first came to mind it gotomeeting.com. Google docs and gotomeeting.com share a purpose. When I completed my M.A. our cohort used gotomeeting becuase we were all located in different parts of the country. We were fortunate that one of our team members was a member of gotomeeting and we were able to merge our individual documents into one cohesive paper for our class. I can see that google docs would serve well for this purpose..AND its free. Along with setting up a wiki, I think Google Doc will be useful to me in the future.
