Week 4, Thing 11, Subjct: TagCloud v. Wordle

I was able to get into TagCloud and used my blog as a source to cloud words. It was very interesting to see what word choices were uses. I was not able to Wordle to work and after several "fixes" continued to get error messages. It looked like Wordle had better graphics than TagCloud. They both allowed for choices in word count and had several other features such as frequency of word use. The tutorial was useful in demonstrating how a word cloud could be used in the classroom for examining text. One note was that the words are different from Tags in that they are not links in the document. I bet that can be done too. I was not able to find a way to save my word cloud. But I did enjoy reviewing it.

Week 4, Thing 10, Subject: del.icio.us

I was able to subscribe to the del.icio.us RSS. It looks like the answer to bookmarking or favorites when one cannot have thier personal computer with them. It elminates searching for sites or information over and over again. Classrooms can use this site for projects that require saving or reviewing information. I will have to think about keeping up with this site. I love the RSS feed feature on the web sites, they seem very useful so far.

Week 3, Thing 9, Subject: Twitter

I signed up for twitter the first week. It is interesting to follow publications that have information you are interested in. I have learned that some of the sites can be overwhelming. One should only subscribe to those publications they find interesting or neccessary. I have also been able to add a few friends to my twitte page. My twitter page is jacquesirish.

Week 3, Thing 8, Subject: Commenting on a Blog

I was able to log into Mary's blog and make a comment. I think I will have to figure out the linking part again. Here is the link to my comment.

Week 3, Thing 7, Subject: RSS

I have really enjoyed getting to know how to use a RSS. I have subscribed to the feeds at my sons' schools and my old school. It is great to be able to see all the updates without having to go through and search the web site itself.

Week 2, Thing 6, Subject: Glogging

Glogging looks to be a lot of fun. In social studies it could be used for making posters of famous people that the students need to know. Still going to look at that site more.

Week 2, Thing 5, Subject: Trading Card

Flilckr was very interesting. It was very difficult to understand mashups and 3rd party tools until I clicked on the embedded links. They seem fun and could easily be used to make instruction interesting. Here is a trading card I made in a 3rd party tool.
